From wedding jewellery and bridal hair accessories to veils and shoes, there are several elements to consider, and each should be chosen to work in harmony with and enhance your overall look, rather than going accessory overboard.

To help you brides piece together your ultimate wedding vision, we offer one-hour personal Accessory Styling Appointments at our gorgeous North Yorkshire bridal boutique. During this time, you will be guided through our amazing collection of bridal accessories and expertly styled in line with your desired look. Our range includes both classic and on-trend bridal hair accessories and jewellery by Arianna Tiaras and Linzi Jay, plus utterly beautiful wedding veils by The Couture Veil.

We also host several exclusive Accessory Evenings throughout the year when brides are invited to enjoy a glass of fizz while perusing our bridal accessory collections and call upon our pro styling advice. All brides are welcome, whether or not you have purchased your dress at The Little Pearl. Keep your eye on the Events page of our website for upcoming Accessory Evening announcements.

Finally, if unable to reach our North Yorkshire boutique, we also provide the option of shopping for your bridal accessories online, with a number of designs available to buy directly from our website.

But before the purchasing can begin, that all-important prep comes first, and so we’re sharing our top bridal accessory shopping tips whilst revealing some of the biggest wedding accessory trends for 2022. And as if that wasn’t enough, we’re also highlighting perfect hen do and bridal party accessory picks from our very own LP clothing and gift collection.

BRIDAL ACCESSORY SHOPPING TIPS

Consider Your Wedding Dress Style

It goes without saying that you should hold off shopping for your bridal accessories until you have chosen your wedding dress. This is because there are numerous elements of the dress that you should take into consideration when choosing your bridal accessories - from the fabric and colour to the neckline and detailing. For you don’t want your finishing touches to clash or compete with your gown, but to come together seamlessly for a cohesive and considered look overall. As a general rule of thumb, if your dress is heavily detailed, go for more simplistic accessories. Meanwhile, if your gown is more understated, you can up the interest with bolder accessory choices. The dress neckline is also a key factor in that strapless designs allow for a necklace or statement earrings to be added, while a higher neckline will generally not require any further neck adornments and only simple stud or drop earrings.

Take Into Account Your Bridal Hairstyle

Likewise, it’s worth taking your bridal hairstyle into account when picking your bridal accessories. For example, if you are wearing your hair down, splurging on some chandelier earrings may not be the best option as they’ll likely be covered up by your locks. When it comes to wedding hair accessories, it might also be worth asking your wedding hairstylist to suggest the most suitable options to work with your hair type. If you’ve not yet decided on your hairdo, though, fear not, as there are plenty of versatile options that can be styled to work with tresses worn up, down or half-and-half. Most notable, wedding hair pins, headbands and tiaras lend themselves well to differing hairstyles.

Think About Your Wedding Venue & Chosen Theme

While you don’t need to go too matchy-matchy coordinating your entire bridal look around your chosen venue and theme, these elements can influence your choices. Perhaps you are having a romantic outdoor wedding, and so ethereal style, floral detailed accessories will work best. Alternatively, you might be having a traditional church wedding, so chic, classic pieces will likely complement your style. And if you’re planning the ultimate wedding party, then you might want to go big, bold and sparkly on the finishing touch front!

Select Your Wedding Jewellery With Care

Sometimes brides get into their heads that they need wedding earrings and a necklace…and a bracelet. But often, in the case of bridal accessories, less is more. Our advice here is to think about the jewellery you wear every day as you will want to feel comfortable on your wedding day in what you know suits you best. So, for example, if you usually wear stud earrings, perhaps your big day is not the time to experiment with large dangling earrings. Likewise, if you’re not used to wearing a necklace, don’t feel the need to purchase one for your wedding day because you feel it’s ‘what brides should wear’. In terms of metals, again, stick to what you know suits and just make sure it doesn’t clash with the colour of your dress.

To Veil, Or Not To Veil?

Yes, there’s something undoubtedly magical about wearing a veil that instantly transports you to bridal heaven, but there are options to top off your big day look beyond this traditional finishing touch. This year, dresses with ‘angel wings’ (check out our Rachel Rose signature collection) and wedding capes are big bridalwear trends and offer a modern alternative to a veil. Meanwhile, for those of you who have noted a veil as a bridal ‘must-have’, there are many amazing designs to choose from that vary in length, layers, and detailing. Again, just think carefully about your dress when choosing your wedding veil as you don’t want to detract from its beauty or conceal any fabulous features.

Switch Up Your Look From Day To Evening

We said shopping for bridal accessories was fun, didn’t we?! If you really are spoilt for choice, we recommend switching up your accessories from day to night, giving you two different looks without going OTT on either! So you could choose simple stud earrings and a classic cathedral length veil for the day, then switch to a bold bridal headband or striking earrings come evening to really get your glam on!

Stay True To You

Above all else - just as we say when shopping for your wedding dress - it’s important that you stay true to your own style when completing your big day look. For you want to feel comfortable, confident and oh so fabulous!

FIVE TOP BRIDAL ACCESSORY TRENDS FOR 2022

1. Pearl Adornments - Us #PearlsGirls couldn’t be anymore in love with this bridal accessory trend! Expect to see pearls everywhere, from headbands and jewellery to shoes and veils, just not the type your nana might wear. The look is cool and contemporary.

2. Statement Earrings - The bridal fashion runways were awash with striking, dangling earrings, so if ever there was a time to go big on the wedding ear candy, it’s now!

3. Veil Alternatives - As mentioned, there are options beyond the veil for trailing bridal accessories that will capture the breeze and create those #weddinggoal images. Think flowing angel wings, fashion-led capes and long-length bridal hair bows.

4. Bold Headbands & Tiaras - Another key look on bridal catwalks and one that we’re big fans of. Perfect for those of you wanting to make a real statement, bridal headbands and tiaras for 2022 are heavily adorned and detailed to the max!

5. Floral Flourishes - Blossom and botanic influences can be found in super pretty bridal hairvines, bands, combs and clips, as well as etched into spellbindingly beautiful veils.
